This is the highest water on Sydney Lake in the last 90 yearsFrom August 8th to 28th the water rose 27 inches due to the rainfall.
Looking at SYDNEY FALLS as you approach them it is deceiving, you are moving at a rate of 2ft/second - as you get closer the hydrolic pull of the water makes
it hard to back up your boat.If you want to view the falls from the bottom, you have to pull in beside to boat and run the motor untill your boat partner ties it up. when you leave start the motor before you pull away from shore.

looking west from the falls
looking down the shute
The force of the current going through the shute , the water falls 7ft and then the wedge of water rises 5 ft at the point

Looking back up the falls - where I am standing, my feet are 10ft below the top of the falls at the center of the dark spot at the back edge of the water above the falls. Notice that the water drops sharply and then comes up to a point and the drops again as it moves away.
