Northern Ontario Fly-In Fishing Camp

Sydney Lake Lodge is a Fly-In Fishing Lodge north of Minaki, southwest of Red Lake Ontario Canada. We offer fly-in fishing trips for walleye, northern pike and lake trout.

The fishing camp is located on the South East corner of Woodland Caribou Park and on the northern fringe on Ontario's Trophy Waters.

I am hoping this blog will be a good way to talk about Sydney Lake and my life in Red Lake. Please feel free to post and to contact me with any questions.

Fishing the Finger reefs

Ryan is standing on one of the many shoals structures found on most lakes, finger reef's are located around the lake, the transition between a depth of 30ft and 1ft of water is around 20ft in distance.
Guests motoring on any lake that are relying on their depth sounder to let the know if there are any hazards, are living in a dream world. Depth sounders are used to locate structures that hold fish.
Guests need to be familiareized with the section of the lake that they are fishing on, note most reefs show up as light spots under the surface, like in the water around Ryan's feet.
Ryan is one of our many fishermen that know how to catch trophy northerns, casting out over the reef, letting his lure sink twards the botton, then jiging it up and reeling in as he retreives the lure, this brings the large northerns that are lurking on the bottom to the surface.

If you are thinking of fishing again this year give us a call or send an email so that we can get you your preferd date.
